True understanding
In order to add value, you have to understand the business you are operating and investing in. This is why we observe specific criteria in the selection of our investments. Propositions suited for our portfolio must fit the profile below.
We choose to invest primarily in business to business. Potential partners are involved in commercial services, trade, production, e-commerce or software, with their headquarter based in western or northern Europe. Operating in a mature market with a proven business model where an injection of capital or the addition of the right expertise will create room for further growth or improvement. Foreman Capital typically invests in companies with EUR 2,5 to 25 million EBITDA (the majority of portfolio companies are between EUR 5 to 10 million EBITDA), with the size of the eventual equity ticket dependent on the business case and growth prospects.
Sustainable and motivated growth
The companies we invest in are financially sound and motivated for growth. They are looking for forward-thinking partner on board that contributes to strategic, commercial and organisational decisions. Current owners are prepared to divest a majority stake or controlling minority interest. In many of our current and previous investments, founders and executives have remained involved or joined as a substantial minority shareholder. While these are not prerequisites, the prospects of a partnership tend to be much better when all the parties involved “put their money where their mouth is”, as they say.
